The crackling fire in your newly remodeled living room casts warmth across the designer area rug and warms your face from where you sit curled up in a blanket (on your one-of-a-kind upholstered sofa, of course). Your family members recline nearby, with the little ones looking longfully at the presents under the tree.
You hear your spouse cooking up a batch of homemade cocoa on your six plate range and smile. This is what you had always envisioned a family Christmas should be. While the kids can’t wait to open gifts, you’ve already received yours.
The fresh drapery gracing your windows, the new shade of Benjamin Moore paint in the dining room, the textured Thibaut wallpaper in the foyer… You feel like the snow queen of your castle.
*reality check*
You may not have a new or remodeled home. You may not have had the wonder and joy of hiring an interior designer or window treatment specialist (yet), but that doesn’t mean you can’t live the highlife this holiday season. (And if you do get to entertain guests in a new space, this is for you too.)
Sometimes all it takes to make your guests rave about your holiday gathering is serving the right beverage. Here is our favorite mimosa recipe.
Ingredients
1 lime, halved
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. sweetened cranberry juice
1 bottle champagne
12 fresh cranberries
4 small sprigs fresh rosemary
Directions
Rub rims of champagne flutes with lime and dip in sugar. Pour 1/4 cup cranberry juice into each glass and top with champagne.
Thread rosemary and cranberries on skewers to garnish. Serves 4.
