This Alpharetta home was undeniably beautiful, but the kitchen felt like a relic of the past. The homeowners had a clear vision: a refreshed, functional space that blended their individual tastes while updating the kitchen to complement the rest of the home. With their contractor already selected and the design nearly finalized, they needed expert guidance in making the finishing selections—lighting, plumbing fixtures, wall and cabinet colors, countertops, and tile. They also considered removing a cabinet to open up the pass-through into the family room, enhancing flow and connectivity.
Our role was to refine their vision and streamline decision-making. After an initial home visit to understand the existing style and overall aesthetic, we planned an efficient design day, selecting countertops, tile, plumbing, and lighting—all in a single afternoon.
Balancing the couple’s differing preferences posed a challenge, but the final design reflects both perspectives beautifully. The Wolf range serves as the undeniable star, anchoring the material palette and setting the tone for the space. To modernize the kitchen, we squared off the dated arched window and removed a high display ledge in the family room, widening the sightline and enhancing the connection between spaces. Eliminating a cabinet between the kitchen and dining area further improved flow, making the space feel more open and welcoming.
The husband was passionate about incorporating walnut, which became a defining element—featured on the island and extending into the bookshelves in the family room. A newly designed back entry created space for a walk-in pantry, which now doubles as a coffee bar, fulfilling his request for a dedicated coffee station with a sink. Sliding barn doors preserved essential walkway space while making room for the expanded island.
Seeing all the design elements come together—from thoughtful layout adjustments to carefully chosen finishes—was incredibly rewarding. And most importantly, the clients are in love with their new kitchen, a space that now feels as elegant and cohesive as the rest of their home.
