Contrary to what some people would think, you don’t want your appliances to blend in with your cabinetry. Doing so will make your kitchen look dated in a hurry.

Instead, focus on creating a direct contrast between your appliances and cabinets. This will show off both elements in their own right and keep the kitchen from becoming a big blur of the same color. You can create just enough continuity by choosing cabinet hardware that matches your appliances.

Perfectly matched cabinets are still in style, but we encourage you to be a rebel in the kitchen. Select one color for your bank of cabinets, then choose a contrasting color for the island.

That contrasting color could also pair well with the appliances if you choose something in the same color family.

 

White kitchens are out.

Design trends are swaying toward deeper, richer color palettes in the kitchen. …but you can still have white if you like it. Your personal style shouldn’t be based on a trend.

Quartz over granite.

Quartz is the best option for kitchen counter tops. Unlike granite, it doesn’t absorb food or liquid remnants, nor does it have little grooves that are difficult to clean. Opt for quartz in your next remodel. You won’t regret it!
